Life has been pretty hectic! All the rush and excitement about the Asiana Bridal Show built up for a whole month, it finally arrived and went so quickly. For a ten hour show, it involved a mass load of preparation, but I got through with the help of some lovely people.

Besides the crazy snowfall, the turnout was exceptional with lots of brides looking to book for their big day and wanting something different; that's where my stand gets stampeded upon. The shows always give me great exposure because it's not the conventional, standard make-up you see. I had so many people (female and male), coming up to myself and my team expressing how refreshing it is to see make-up that is not caked on. And as usual, I had many models and artists from other stands watching from around corner, 'What's going on over there?'. Oh well, I'm used to it now, been standing out from the crowd since I was young, no exception now! But this time, I stand out in a good way, not with those geeky NHS glasses mum used to get me, thanks for that Momma Bear!

Well the show went great all in all, and I must say an absolute huge thank you to the following people:

Creator Number 1: My mum; even through her pains and chronic fatigue, she still pushes through and helps me out with every show. Mum you're the greatest!

Creator Number 2: My dad; coming along to help me out, making sure I'm thinking business minded (the Asian way) and giving us many laughs along the way.

Sibling 1: My sister; keeping me focused and positive, and always up for being my model. She is the greatest spokesperson in the world, no B.S. she tells the truth and that's it!

Sibling 2; My brother; the muscles in the family. Doing the hard job that my weak arms cannot take on!

The friend; Ranj; thank you for helping set up, needed the extra help and it was much appreciated.

Cousin 1; Tanu; always willing to help me out whenever I need, thank you for coming out in the terrible weather!!

Cousin 2; Kavita; wasn't sure to put friend or cousin down as you exceed the expectations of both definations!

Kyle's Collection; Mal, Nisha and Rav; once again thank you for the gorgeous jewellery, it is the best around and I would recommend every bride wear Kyle's on their wedding day! Can't beat their quality and range of products!

Rina Roberts Bridal Wear; Rina; thank you for the amazing dress, everyone was sure turning heads at the outfit! Couldn't have made that impact without you!

The Model Friend; Mona; thank you for coming all the way from Leeds to help out! Was great seeing you again, and best line of the whole day:
Monday 6th Feb 2012 @ 1 a.m., still awake after the show, Mona says 'Ahh it (the Airbrushing) looks even better now, people should see it now! I don't want to take it off!'

LFW - Day 1 Highlight

So I'm not in London as I originally planned to be for LFW, too much work and planning this weekend up here in the Midlands, but the greatness of the internet let's me see everything online straight away!

My favourite item from LFW today, not even clothing or make-up related but I want this white bike from the PPQ show, and the reasons why:

I'd look super cool
Healthy lifestyle (would actually use the bike, as opposed to walking besides it)
The last bike I had was the old-school BMX, think it's about time to go for something more classy!

Asian Bride, Asian Pride!

FINALLY, Ganga has done a full Asian bridal shoot!! (Ok, so that doesn't sound as great as The Rock)

I did it! A shoot purely all Asian bridal looks and styles with the whole works; bling bling, bindi's and bold colours. I thought it was time to bring out the browness in me!

As standard procedures, arriving early at the studio to walk in and hear an awesome Michael Jackson song. I always think Garazi plays MJ just as I enter to put me in a good mood but she assures me that it's purely coincidental..guess MJ knows I'm arriving!

More madness and fun as the previous shoot, the day went so fast but got 5 looks done in total with my two lovely models; Jivan Mann, who was voted as the 9th Most Beautiful South Asian Female Model in the UK in 2011 and my gorgeous school friend Aneka, who has been creating havoc with me for over 7 years.

A huge thanks to the both of them for being so easy to work with. Also shout outs to Garazi for the stunning photography again; Kyle's Collection for lending me a beuatiful bridal set; Patrick for couriering the beautiful Kyle's jewellary form London; and my cousin Nikki who leant me her wedding day outfit! Gracias a mis amigos!!

Technology can be a bum sometimes

Had a manic weekend at The Ultimate Wedding Exhibition at St. John's Hotel on Sunday, but some good laughs all in all. Especially with the youngest lad on the Kyle's Collection stand, that boy is my homie, he loves wrestling as much as I do!

Thanks to the mother, for all your super organisation skills, and to the sister, for being my model.

I think it's safe to say after the show that I'll never be out on a Friday or Saturday night night year, which is good because I need some major detox!!!!

Yet again I paired up with the fantastic Garazi for two fun-diddly-days of shooting. Music, make-up and Michael Jackson talk!

So, anyway, this was meant to be an Asian bridal shoot...yeah, that did not happen! As much as I wanted the gorgeous, colourful outfits and bling, I found an amazing lady who makes hand-made accessories and just had to have them in this shoot and so, I went for the less-is-more with the styling.

From fascinators to fans, bouquets to bands, Heena at Simply Silver by Heena creates beautiful, custom-made, affordable accessories. She's the new superwoman, I gave her 6 colours and nice long list of what I required and she made them up in less than a week! Passionate about her work, and able to match any bride's colour theme, I'd recommend her to anyone who wants tailored accessories at a great price. I've already told her what I want for my wedding and I'm not even engaged...yes, that's how excited I got!!

Sensational September

'You know I need this sweet sensation' - Chase and Status

Sensational is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this September. Not just because it's the birthday month of myself, many of my family members, Zandra Rhodes and my mum (who both share the same day!), but because I had some awesome opportunities.

The first was being offered to work at London Fashion Week for the amazing Andrew Majtenyi. While I used Airbrush make-up on the three radiant models, Belle, Lucie and Samar, saviour Benjamin styled the hair.

The whole team was expecting a quiet presentation, but once the peeps rolled in they were loving Andrew's collection, no doubt. The designs caught the attention of many magazines, newspapers and industry pro's, not surprising seeing as the garments were exquisite. His designs are so unique and the intricacy of the patterns are enticing.

It got so busy, the demand to see the models in different outfits rose dramatically and I ended up becoming wardrobe stylist as well! All in all, it was a great turnout.

The next day I was off shooting for the designer who stomped into the fashion industry and put Britain on the map, yes that's right...the one and only Zandra Rhodes. We were shooting with one of the models from Andrew's presentation, Lucie, and a very good friend of mine, Patrick Anderson - no need to tell you how awesome he is..he's photographed pretty much everyone in the world..even The Jackson Five. Patrick, if you read this I need you to find that picture, I want it, please! Thank you :)

It was a phenomenal shoot at Zandra's super colourful apartment, with some brilliant and bold patterns for her Spring/Summer 2012 collection, that I'm sure, harmonised with the right accessories could easily be turned into an Asian outfit.

I had a very inappropriate starting for this post but I'm not using it in case someone who doesn't know me reads this and thinks I'm quite crude!

It's been quite awhile and there's so much to catch up on, so instead of dragging it out in a long essay, this is my life in bullet point form over the last few months:

I've been super busy every single weekend with bridals
I can't get no sleep... well I do but it's about 4- 5 hours on average per night
Living out of my car from travelling up and down the country has made it look utterly butterly and now needs a good vacuum
Worked with the lovely Roman Originals company again, there was some really good-looking cake for lunch and what do I do..drop it all over me...classic Ganga style
I was the make-up artist at the Celebration Of The Independents Fashion Show which took place at the Great Western Arcade, Birmingham. I got to work alongside the Benjamin Ryan Hair salon and the stunning models from Adage Models, so there were some familiar faces around for sure
Shot with Asiana Magazine for the first time, was a great experience and met some fellow Brummies including designer Ziggi Akhtar and a Michael Jackson fan!
Besides that met an awesome girl called Mona who kept me thoroughly entertained during the long days. Was an interesting insight into how men and women think about relationships, life and love! Keep an eye out for the 50 page editorial for Top 25 bachelors and bachelorettes coming out soon
Had the fortunate opportunity to do Airbrush make-up on Gemma Merna, who plays Carmel on Hollyoaks. It was for the Lazy Bar Walkers event at the T20 Finals that took place at Edgbaston Cricket Ground
I had an amazing assistant up until mid-August, Minnie Virdi I miss you!! At only 16 years old this girl is destined for something great she just doesn't know it yet
My sister got engaged.... the food was great!

I better not leave that last point so bland or I'll get a head-bashing from my sister. Speaking truthfully about the day, the cupcakes were so much better!!! And to my sister, sincerely sorry for bursting into tears at the end it was just too emotional but I hope the day was as amazing as you imagined it to be. Bring on the wedding planning...and Vegas baby! And LFW!!!

I've worked several times for Roman Originals as a hair stylist on photoshoots for their latest and upcoming collections. The clothing is designed for plus size women who want a more relaxed fit. The outfits are designed to be fashionable, comfortable and most of all flattering.

The shoots are always fun as I get to work with an energising and refreshing team; including the striking Laura Coleman at Alan Sharman Models, (Miss England 2008), who has strutted down the catwalk for many designers; and the beautiful Beata Orosz at Alan Sharman models, who has walked for several bridal wear designers. The photographer is the talented Chris Middlebrook who has his own studio at The Picture Workshop in the heart of Birmingham.

The day is an early start with a quick catch up and then it's straight down to business with the hair styling! There's usually around 100 garments that need to be shot so it's a conveyor belt in the changing rooms. The styling assistants from Roman Originals are always on point, they get the job done but still maintain a fun environment to work in.

I look forward to working with them again in the future, but for the meantime here's a taster of some of their clothing. I put my favourite first because the dress is absolutely gorgeous! The movement of the lightweight mesh creates a very '50s Marilyn Monroe-esque flare, and still looks divine when you're standing upright. Chris has captured Laura in some stunning poses so you can really see the detail in the ribbon strips.

MJ Tribute

If there is one thing to know about me, it's that I love Michael Jackson.

The first time I meet new clients they always end up leaving the shoot, trial, or wherever I'm working, knowing that I am completely obsessed with his music and dancing. Most people think I'm crazy for decking out my car with mini Michael statues, a flag, and even an air freshener! But once in a while the universe sends me off to jobs where I meet people who appreciate his extraordinary talent. One of those people is Dip Chandarana.

We met about 3 years ago for a shoot with Rekesh Chauhan, a friend of mine with another amazing musical talent. As standard procedure, I was wearing my necklace with the HIStory logo. After introducing myself to Dip, the first thing he said was, 'Hey, you're a Michael Jackson fan!' I always get a rush of excitement when people say it to me, because I know they recognise the logo, and it reminds me that there are true Michael fans out there! I got super excited and off we went talking about Michael and his music.

After hearing the devastating news about our idol 2 years ago, me and Dip got talking about how Michael was inspiring on so many levels. Whether it be music, dancing, being a humanitarian, or even fashion. Yes, Michael had style and class. We wanted to commemorate him and incorporate his uniqueness into our work. And so we did!

It's been a while since the shoot, and I think on a personal level I just needed time before I released the images into my portfolio. It was a fun day shooting, I'll never forget splattering all my Michael outfits over the table. Even the models, Debrah and Raj were infatuated by how much stuff I own. It was a whole lot of sequins, liquid metallic materials and fedora hats. For the record I currently have about 29 Michael t-shirts that my mother allows me to wear (there's a lot more that can never be worn or touched!).

A huge thank you to everyone involved; Aneka (Nikey) Khaira, who assisted the styling; Debrah and Raj, our models; and Dip Chandarana, the photographer. And also to my mum, who understands how much I love to dress up and buy clothes that I believe to be inspired by Michael!

I've been Speechless and in a State of Shock since 25.06.09, but it's time I let the world know about The Way You Make Me Feel.

You're an absolute Thriller of a performer, thank you for sharing your gift with the world.

Those who weren't true fans never really got to see who was Behind The Mask, and I feel sorry for them because they're Tabloid Junkie's.

Just know that even when most of the world turned against you, there were still true fans ready to Scream at anyone trying to bring you down.

Some mushy, gushy stuff..

Not sure if this blog is for my friends and family, or just some reassurance for myself.

It's always a tough decision choosing between family/friend gatherings and work, but I promised myself to put my career at the for front this year, and I've been sticking to it!

Last week I had a shoot with the amazing Matt Bird and the stunning Jemma, at Adage Models. It collided on the day as one of many Indian pre-wedding ceremonies for my cousin's wedding (our weddings last for at least 1 week!). Now, I had to leave the shoot at a certain time to ensure I was back home to get all sparkled up and blinged out in a sari. But when it came to leaving...I couldn't!

Not because I wasn't allowed, but purely due to the fact that I enjoy my job way too much to stop. However, I can justify why work should, and always must come first at this point in my life:

The cons;

- I don't get to see friends and family as much as I hope to, so social life is non-existent

- Possibility in less alcohol consumption (not sure if that's a pro or con?!)

The pros;

- I still see friends and family occasionally, and when I do it's always good times and lots of laughs, so I just soak it up while I can

- I love my job!!

- I get to work alongside some amazing photographers, stylists, models and designers

- My bridal clients are awesome and I build great relationships with them

- Photoshoots and music videos are always the highlight of my week, as the people are super cool and it never feels like work because it's so fun

- Whenever I do settle into marriage and all that grown-up stuff, I won't be able to drop everything to do a last minute shoot, so now is the time to grab as much work as I can

- I get to build my portfolio with some kick-ass shots like this:

So, I can justify putting work first. And this is to my friends and family to say I love you mucho, and I apologize in advance if you rarely see me. But I promise to do all your make-up and hair for free on your weddings...even the boys, because remember...Airbrushing is for guys too!

School Spirit

Earlier this year I did make-up and hair styling for City College Birmingham; it was a basic studio set up at BCU's Gosta Green Campus, the images were going to be used for advertisements and inside the prospectus. I got to meet a handful of students, who now when I think about it, make me feel so old! School seems like another lifetime ago!

I go back and think, what the hell did I use to wear on my non-uniform days at Sutton Girls? And what was the weird obsession everyone had with gel pens and bendy rulers?

Sixth form at K.E. Rosehill went by even faster. Random bitchy arguments over absolutely nothing, with guaranteed new drama each week. Whether it was sneaking pizza through the school gates or boy problems. There was more drama in my sixth form life than there was in The O.C.!

And I still can't figure out what prompted the outcast group of friends I was in, to sit on a bunch of lockers. Which lead to things I don't want to get into! Good times. It went by too fast and I didn't appreciate it back then.

So if you're still in school, a bit of advice, don't be in a rush to get out and if you end up in the most important drama story in the school..love and laugh about it, because one day you'll go back and actually miss it! Trust me!!

Airbrush proof; Airbush poof!

Indeed 'poof' is the word because Airbrushing truly does cover up anything and everything. I have clients that regularly ask 'What's the difference between Airbrush make-up and regular make-up?', well here's a just a few comparisons.

Regular make-up; Applied onto the skin with a brush, sponge or fingertips
Airbrush make-up; Gently sprayed onto the skin
Applying make-up with brushes, sponges, and fingertips just means that you're pressing the foundation into your skin. No matter how gentle you are with applying, you are pushing the make-up into your pores, which in return will clog them up causing breakouts. Airbrushing is sprayed on in fine layers that are built up, depending on how much coverage you require. It sits on top of the skin, as opposed to sinking into your skin. I.e.: it doesn't irritate your skin, and won't result in you waking up with a spot!

Regular make-up; Often brush stroke and fingerprint marks can be left after application, the foundation can be uneven
Airbrush make-up; The microdots of foundation always sit evenly on the skin
With HD cameras now used worldwide, every single part of your make-up shows up on camera, so God forbid if that morning before you attend your best friend's wedding you were too tired to blend your foundation, because who ever sees you up close on that HD camera will catch every imperfection. OMG!! Yes, that was probably your response, and I don't blame you! That's where Airbrushing comes into play. It is sprayed out in extremely fine particles, allowing a smoother, more even-toned finish that, once set, looks immaculate up close.

Regular make-up; Quick method, and you see the effect straight away, but you have to continually top it up
Airbrush make-up; Slightly longer method, effect of Airbrush seen after it settles in, however no need to top up and the coverage remains impeccable
With regular foundation, you'll find you're continually looking in the mirror to add make-up to cover up that pimple that just keeps burning through your make-up. It's frustrating, you leave the house looking good and by the time you get to your event you need a top up already! With Airbrushing the coverage and smoothness continues to improve as the day progresses, you'll be looking in the mirror constantly just because it looks that damn good! Patience really is a virtue when it comes Airbrushing. But hey, as a woman, we go through the pain of waxing, threading and all sorts, so a bit of extra time to look even more stunning won't hurt us.

Regular make-up; For full coverage, foundation base can look caked on and will feel heavy
Airbrush make-up; For full coverage, foundation base will still look natural and will feel light
Regular make-up will be compiled of heavy concealing, followed by a full coverage foundation and then set with powder. The end result looks very caked on; you can see the line of the foundation where the jawline and neck meet. For non-make-up junkies, the skin almost feels suffocated as no oxygen is reaching the skin. The process for Airbrushing is similar however the technique involves less concealing, very light layers of Airbrush make-up that are built up, and finally, if requested, dusted with a powder. The result looks more natural and diminishes all imperfections.

That's only a few comparisons, I could go on forever but all in all I love Airbrush make-up and never doubt it's abilities, and here's some proof as to just how much coverage you can get with Airbrushing, whilst still looking natural. This is from one of my brides this year, only the top half of the tattoo is being Airbrushed out:

After 4 layers of Airbrushing has been used. Since first layer of Airbrush, this image is after about 3 and 1/2 hours.

Close-up: Still looks natural, it's smudge-proof and waterproof so didn't even rub off on her dress!

5.27 p.m., Tuesday 24th May 2011, sitting replying to the mass of emails awaiting my response. My phone rings..I stare for a couple of seconds enjoying the MJ P.Y.T. ringtone. Unrecognised number. Potential client. Got to put my 'work voice' on.

It's a girl wanting make-up for a last minute show at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham. She's coming up from London and is in desperate need of a mua. Hmmm, I have nothing else on, okie doke I'm on it! All emails are at a halt.

Now the Scouse accent and the fact that her name was Rebecca had not clicked in my brain as to who it is. As I packed the wonder that is my Airbrush kit, an assortment of questions rush through my head. Who is it? Is she really famous? Shall I eat before I leave?

No idea. No idea. Yes.

Finally get to the hotel, trying to find out the room number, they wanted a surname. I get a text, 'Ferguson'. I repeat in my head, 'Rebecca Ferguson', shrug my shoulders and head towards the revolving doors and decide to simply wait until she arrives. My head ticks, Rebecca Ferguson, Rebecca Ferguson...O.M.G.

I must admit primarily I was in slight shock, my first celeb! I felt super cool. Muwahaha here's to all the people who doubted I couldn't get anywhere with this job. I don't think I'd ever been proud of myself until that very moment. Ok, well enough about my emotional journey and more about Rebecca...

When she arrived she had the warmest smile, greeting myself and hair stylist, Angelo, with such love. We got to work straight away, no time to waste. It was an inspiration talking to her about life, ambition, following your dreams, being focused and driven. We were on the same boat, except her life is more awesome than mine.

Probably spent too much time talking, but oh well that's how we girls roll, you can't shut us up. My final words are that she is super-talented, down-to-earth and y'all need to watch out for her album dropping later this year because her voice is off the heezy.

Was meant to post this last week but life has been manic with the Pavillions Wedding Fair (21st & 22nd May) so I've had no time to get the images of the lovely Emily @ Adage Models up on here.

You saw her looking all broken-down fashion doll from the '80s with the shoot I did with my adopted white bro Elliott Morgan back in December 2009. (Insert)

Now see her in a different light with a more commercial bridal look. I used the amazing Airbrush make-up, which meant an easier job for photographer Garazi, and here are the results:

Club Scene - Rishi Maman

This is out to you brown, and brown-wannabe, bloggers!! Here's the final video for Rishi Maman's debut single, Club Scene, for which I did the Airbrush make-up and hair styling for. It's definitely getting added to my Ipod because firstly, the most memorable line 'So I proceed to let my swagger flow...' is on loop in my head, and the fact that my vocal tunes have been destroyed since I was pushed out of my mother's uterus, for the sake of my familys' ears I'll be able to stop singing it around the house.
Secondly, it's quite shameful having only 32 out of 4169 songs on my Ipod that are by Asian artists. Maybe it's time to up my brownness..?? Not including the lingo because that shizzle isn't happening, I couldn't learn when I was six, and I am not planning to learn it now..my solution..say it in English with an Indian accent..can't go wrong really!

I can transform ya!!

Pictures from the shoot are coming soon..though you may not notice Emily, as she looks more commercial in the new images. I love how I can make a model be so editorial and edgy, and then transform her into a stunning bride! Oh make-up, I love you so much! I love my Airbrush kit the most..mwah, mwah, mwah!

Ahh, it's been awhile since I last blogged up on here! But I knew I just couldn't write my latest blog without spilling some beans....the most exciting news I've had in the last few months... so 'Keep up with me as I lose control'....I have a temporary job at MAC Cosmetics (wait..it gets better..) at the most exclusive and prestigious store in the whole of UK.. Harrods!! Yes, baby, YES! I will be there part-time for 3 months so I can still work freelance on my days off!

The new line of products for Christmas will be coming out soon, so can't wait to see them! Also looking forward to the Christmas parade, which is Peter Pan theme!! I'm still a kid at heart so will be just as excited to see that!

Also, I've had some people via facebook asking me questions regarding skincare and diet, so I'll get the questions together and give my advice on what I recommend.

Welcome to my blogspot!

Firstly, I'd like to start off with you, the reader. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, I appreciate every single person who follows my work as it strives me to keep doing more to show you more

This is a blog where you can find out the insights into a make-up artist's life. I'll have updates about my latest and upcoming work, hint and tips for all you make-up junkies, as well some random blogs that may not be necessarily make-up or fashion related!

Let's pretend we're on a speed date. Here's 5 things to know about me:

1. I've been a make-up artist and hair stylist for three and a half years, and have got an extensive portfolio which ranges from beauty to fashion to creative.

2. I'm a perfectionist and always strive to do better.

3. Currently I'm obsessed with Nutella on toast!

4. For a make-up artist, I'm not the traditional girly girl, but don't let that put you off, as I'm all about creating individuality because everyone is different. I love make-up, but strangely I don't wear a lot myself. I love styling, fashion and finding out the latest trends, but I don't religiously follow trends personally. I believe you can still make it in this industry with out conforming to the 'Rules'.

5. I love Michael Jackson. His music and dancing is untouchable, no one can deny that fact. His music also saved my mother's life, so if it wasn't for his music I may have grown up without my mum and I don't think I'd be here today without her. (Sounds so mushy but it's true!)

Well I hope I impressed you, and I look forward to our next date! You never know, we may just fall in love.....
